Good to knowWhat is this?

Japan’s underground idol and visual kei scenes rarely make it onto mainstream tour posters in Germany — shows get announced on Twitter/X, Instagram Stories, or a venue’s own site, and it’s easy to miss one entirely. This page collects them in a single place for North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW): Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bochum, and the surrounding area.

You’ll find everything from screaming-idol and metalcore acts to visual kei legends and solo idol live shows — genres that don’t always share a stage back in Japan, but often end up sharing one here on tour.

This is a fan-run, unofficial listing. Always double-check dates, doors times, and ticket links with the organizer or venue before you show up.

Scene basics

Cheki (instant photos)

After many shows, idols sell short one-on-one meet-and-greet slots that end with an instant two-shot photo (a "cheki") — often the main way fans interact directly with performers and support them financially.

Member colors & penlights

Each idol is often assigned a personal color, tracked by fans via colored penlights (glow sticks) waved during songs — it's also why the category tags on this site's calendar are shown in different colors.

Wotagei (call and response)

Some crowds do coordinated chants, claps, and jumps timed to the music. If you don't know the calls, it's completely fine to just watch — nobody expects newcomers to join in right away.

Showing up as a newcomer

Doors times and photography/recording rules vary a lot by venue and event — check the event link before you go, and when in doubt, watch what regulars do.
